East Coast Skatepark Singapore – ECP

Author: Dylan  |  Category: About Singapore, Attractions

Hello again!!

As all of you should know from my previous post, I’m a Aggressive Inline Rollerblader. And if you’re a skateboarder, BMX rider or a roller like me, and if you travel to or is living in Singapore, and wanting to shred, THERE IS ONLY ONE PLACE TO GO. EAST COAST SKATE PARK. I’m not trying to brag about it but honestly and seriously, it is a WORLD CLASS skate park, worthy of your time and money just to travel here to have a session! I kid you not!

It has EVERYTHING any extreme sport enthusiast would want. An awesome street course with so much flow, a big and deep vert bowl, a combination bowl, curbs and ledges of all heights and length and even handrails! It is street and park fused into ONE location. What more can we ask for? And the ultimate part is…it’s absolutely FREE!

Unfortunately, there is a flaw to it. It is the weather. Singapore is a tropical island. When there’s tropical, there is rain. And boy do we get lots of it. It’s very unpredictable as the skate park is located by the beach. Rain clouds tend to be blown over the area. It may be sunny one moment but before you know it, it starts to rain. But do not fret! It can rain buckets for hours on end, but once the last drop of rain hits the floor, give it 20-30 minutes and most of the park should have dried up!

The park is opened 24/7. Super hot in the day if it’s not raining yet cool and breezy at night. There are flood lights that turn on at  7pm, then switches to warm lights at 10pm and stays that way till 7am the next day. So if you’re a sunshine lover or a person of darkness, you can make your way down there to shred.

East Coast Skate Park is located at East Coast Park, Car Park F1

Bring your helmets and pads! Bring some wax! And you’re in for a great time. See you there and have great fun! ☮

WARNING : THIS IS AN EXTREME SKATE PARK. IT IS NOT A PLAYGROUND. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR KIDS THERE AND LET THEM PLAY AROUND. THEY MIGHT/WILL GET HIT BY A BMX BIKE, STRAY SKATEBOARD OR A ROLLERBLADER. AND IT WON’T BE OUR FAULT. THANK YOUR VERY MUCH!

Sim Lim Square – Singapore Computer Peripherals Haven

Author: Benson  |  Category: About Singapore, Attractions

So you’re in Singapore, and you ran out of media storages in your Digital Camera. Or worse, you lost your camera and you need to get a replacement. Maybe you just need some computer pheriperals and you’d like to top them up when you’re here. Introducing Sim Lim Square, Singapore’s PC Walmart.

The Place

Sim Lim Square

Sim Lim Square

Located just a few minutes stroll away from G4 Station, Sim Lim Square gets pretty busy usually over the weekends packed with tourists and locals doing their IT shopping. It’s best to go there after 1PM when most shops are open and before 6pm. Yea I know, short hours ;)

The Shops

If you are afraid of having different kind of treatment as a tourist as compared with locals, the easy way out would be getting a local friend to tag along with you. I could do it if I’m free (bwahaha). Most of the shops do have fixed pricing especially when it comes to computer pheripherals, but rest assure the prices are really competitive.

The Buzzling Scenes at Sim Lim Square during Weekdays

The Buzzling Scenes at Sim Lim Square during Weekdays

One reason I could explain on the cheaper price would be the stocks that they take for their goods are in more bulk as compared to the rest of the departmental stores around the island. Try walking around the mall to get the price lists and have it compared.

The shops that I could recommend you in Sim Lim would be:-

Fuwell #04-52 , Video-pro #04-33, Bliss #04-02D – for PC pheripherals
Active Foto & Electronics #04-60 – For media storages such as SD cards, Flash Drives, CF cards etc.
Alan Photo Trading #01-38 - For digital cameras purchase (If you need help with recommendations of other shops, hola me in G4 Station, there are a few more in other places which I would strongly recommend.)

Medias! :)

Medias! :)

Some of the shops in Sim Lim Square has some  bad reputation especially when it comes to electronics and camera purchases; not so much on their computer counterparts. Caveat Emptor (Buyers Beware) as they say, so do your studies before purchasing any items you require.

Surprise Surprise! The Food!

If you’re here, remember to check out the basement foodcourt. They serve a good variety of local and international cuisine that doesn’t hurt your pocket (priced fairly) and you’d be surprise even as a local like me, I tend not to miss my lunch/ dinner here if I’m shopping in Sim Lim Square.

Have some local deserts like Ice Kacang or Chendol after finishing up with your main dish!

How to Get There from G4

LA SALLE - College of the Arts

LA SALLE - College of the Arts

Just walk across the main road and head towards LA SALLE direction. You’ll be able to spot Sim Lim Square just right behind it. Its just 10 minutes stroll away from where we are. Or simply grab any of our reception to point the direction. You won’t miss the building for sure! ;) Ah, and look out for me should you be getting any IT stuff, I could probably give you some pointers.

Stay with us at G4 Station and I’d tell you more when you get here!
